NEW POETRY COURSE

The poetry of place, the place of poetry

Quaker Meeting House, Burford

(A Saturday in spring, date and time to be announced shortly)

A day spent reading and discussing the work of a number of poets who have found inspiration in particular places. These might be places where they were born or grew up, or which were significant to them in other ways. We will look at poems by John Clare, William Wordsworth and a group of women poets writing today: poets and poems that may be familiar to you, others perhaps less so. We will also consider how poems themselves might provide a dwelling place for poets and how places left behind can remain in the imagination.
